Description

The Top Discharge Basket Centrifuge is designed for flexible batch solid-liquid separation of filterable crystal slurries, precipitated solids, and reactor discharge materials.

It is suitable for small to medium production batches, pilot-scale projects, multi-product processing lines, and cost-sensitive applications where manual top discharge is acceptable. After filtration and spin drying, the machine is stopped, the top cover is opened, and the dewatered cake is removed manually from the basket.

Compared with automatic scraper or bag-lifting centrifuges, the top discharge design has a simpler structure and lower equipment investment. It is especially suitable when operators need to inspect the cake condition, adjust batch operation, handle different materials on the same line, or validate a process before larger-scale production.

How the Top Discharge Basket Centrifuge Works

The prepared slurry enters the rotating basket lined with filter media.

Under centrifugal force:

  1. Slurry Feeding
    The crystal slurry or precipitated solids enter the rotating basket.
  2. Liquid Filtration
    Mother liquor or process liquid passes through the filter medium and is collected through the filtrate outlet.
  3. Cake Formation
    Product solids are retained inside the basket and gradually form a filter cake.
  4. Optional Cake Washing
    Compatible wash liquid can be introduced to reduce residual mother liquor, soluble impurities, salts, or reaction residues.
  5. Spin Drying
    The basket continues rotating to remove residual liquid from the cake.
  6. Machine Stop
