The Bag Lifting Centrifuge is designed for the batch separation, washing, dewatering, and gentle discharge of food acid crystals after crystallization.
It is suitable for crystalline food additives such as malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, citric acid monohydrate, and similar organic acid products. The centrifuge separates mother liquor from the crystal cake, supports controlled cake washing when required, and discharges the finished crystals by lifting the filter bag rather than using a scraper.
This discharge method is suitable for food acid crystals that require cleaner handling, lower product retention, and reduced risk of mechanical damage during unloading.
- Citric acid crystal recovery
- Citric acid monohydrate separation
- Malic acid crystal dewatering
- Tartaric acid crystal separation
- Food-grade organic acid crystal washing
- Acid crystal mother liquor removal
- Food additive crystallization recovery
- Crystal dewatering before drying and packaging
- Recovery of valuable crystals from mother liquor recycle systems
- Batch production of high-purity food acid products
Peony provides the batch solid-liquid separation section between food acid crystallization and downstream drying or packaging.

1. Crystal Slurry Feeding
Food acid crystal slurry is fed into the rotating basket through a controlled feeding system.
The feed rate is adjusted to support even crystal distribution and stable cake formation.
2. Mother Liquor Filtration
Under centrifugal force, mother liquor passes through the filter bag and basket perforations.
The liquid is collected through the filtrate outlet and can be recycled to the crystallization section, transferred to a mother liquor tank, or sent for further recovery.
3. Crystal Cake Formation
The food acid crystals remain inside the filter bag and gradually form a cake.
Filter bag selection is important because crystal size and fines content can affect filtrate clarity, filtration speed, and product loss.
4. Optional Cake Washing
A controlled wash step can reduce residual mother liquor and soluble impurities remaining between the crystals.
For citric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, and other soluble food acid products, wash liquid concentration, temperature, volume, and contact time should be controlled carefully to limit unnecessary crystal dissolution.
5. Spin Drying
After filtration and optional washing, the basket continues rotating to reduce free liquid retained in the crystal cake.
Lower cake moisture can reduce downstream dryer load and improve product handling.
6. Filter Bag Lifting Discharge
After the separation cycle is complete, the filter bag is lifted to remove and discharge the dewatered crystal cake.
The product is discharged without scraper contact, helping reduce product retention and mechanical crystal damage.

Product Solubility
Food acid crystals may dissolve during washing. The wash liquid should be selected according to product solubility and purity requirements.
For some applications, saturated solution, concentrated mother liquor, cooled wash liquid, or a controlled compatible wash medium may be preferred over direct water washing.
Crystal Size and Fines Content
Fine crystals may pass through an unsuitable filter bag or reduce filtration speed.
The filter bag micron rating should be selected according to actual particle-size distribution and acceptable fines loss.
Product Purity Requirement
When lower residual mother liquor or lower impurity carryover is required, a controlled wash stage may be added.
The washing design should balance product purity improvement and crystal loss.
Material Compatibility
The wetted material should be selected according to acid concentration, pH, operating temperature, chloride impurities, cleaning chemicals, and expected service conditions.
Downstream Drying Requirement
Target cake moisture affects dryer load, energy consumption, and final product handling.
Spin-drying time, cake thickness, crystal size, and filter bag permeability should be reviewed together during equipment selection.
The Bag Lifting Centrifuge is generally suitable when:
- The food acid product forms filterable crystals
- The crystal cake remains stable during lifting discharge
- Product cleanliness and lower mother liquor carryover are required
- Gentle discharge is preferred over scraper discharge
- Controlled washing is needed before drying or packaging
- Mother liquor recovery is important
- Batch operation is suitable for the required production capacity
- Reduced product retention and easier cleaning are required

Can this centrifuge be used for citric acid crystal recovery?
Yes. The centrifuge can be configured for citric acid or citric acid monohydrate crystal separation when the slurry forms a stable and filterable cake. Filter bag selection, wash conditions, and cycle time should be confirmed based on actual crystal properties.
Is it suitable for malic acid and tartaric acid crystals?
Yes. It can be used for malic acid and tartaric acid crystal recovery when the product has suitable filtration and cake-forming characteristics.
Can food acid crystals be washed inside the centrifuge?
Yes. An optional washing system can be installed to reduce residual mother liquor. Because food acid crystals may be soluble, the wash liquid and wash sequence should be designed to control product loss.
Can mother liquor and wash liquor be collected separately?
Yes. The system can be designed for separate collection of mother liquor and wash filtrate, supporting recycle, recovery, re-concentration, or controlled treatment.
Why choose bag lifting discharge instead of scraper discharge?
Bag lifting discharge avoids direct scraper contact with the crystal cake. It is suitable when lower product retention, gentler cake removal, and easier cleaning are important.
