The Bag Lifting Centrifuge is designed for the batch recovery, washing, and dewatering of valuable solid products obtained from fermentation broth after downstream purification.
In a typical fermentation-based production process, the raw broth first undergoes clarification, cell removal, concentration, pH adjustment, precipitation, crystallization, or solvent treatment. The resulting product slurry may contain target crystals or precipitated solids together with mother liquor, residual salts, color bodies, and soluble impurities.
It is suitable for fermentation-derived products that can form a stable and filterable cake, particularly where product recovery, purity control, hygienic handling, and reduced material loss are important.
- Recovery of crystallized products after fermentation purification
- Recovery of precipitated product solids after pH adjustment or neutralization
- Product cake washing after fermentation-derived product separation
- Dewatering of purified fermentation product slurry
- Batch harvesting before downstream drying and packaging
- Mother liquor removal from fermentation-derived product cake
- Recovery of filterable solids after concentration and crystallization
- Hygienic batch separation for high-value fermentation products
Fermentation-derived products often require controlled solid-liquid separation after purification, precipitation, or crystallization.
Typical requirements include:
- Complete recovery of valuable product cake
- Reduced mother liquor carryover before drying
- Controlled cake washing for purity improvement
- Lower product loss during discharge
- Hygienic batch handling
- Reduced cross-contamination between product campaigns
- Gentle handling of fragile crystals or soft precipitates
- Easier cleaning and filter bag replacement
The Bag Lifting Centrifuge supports these requirements through batch filtration, controlled cake washing, spin drying, and removable bag-lifting discharge.
Peony provides centrifuge equipment and separation support for crystalline fructose production, food ingredient processing, and hygienic crystal recovery projects.
Process Evaluation
Our engineers evaluate:
- Crystal size and cake-forming behavior
- Slurry solids content and mother liquor properties
- Target moisture and product purity
- Cake washing requirement
- Required capacity and downstream drying conditions
Equipment Selection
We help customers select:
- Suitable basket size and filter bag specification
- Filter screen and feed configuration
- Cake washing and spin-drying arrangement
- Bag lifting discharge system
- Product-contact materials, CIP option, and PLC automation level
After clarification, purification, precipitation, or crystallization, the filterable fermentation-derived product slurry enters the rotating basket lined with a filter bag and supporting filter screen.
Under centrifugal force:
- Process liquid or mother liquor passes through the filter bag and is collected through the filtrate outlet.
- The recovered product solids are retained inside the basket.
- A filter cake gradually forms on the inner surface of the filter bag.
- Optional wash liquid is introduced to reduce residual mother liquor and soluble impurities.
- High-speed rotation removes residual moisture from the product cake.
- The machine stops after the programmed cycle is completed.
- The filter bag containing the dewatered product cake is lifted through the top discharge section.
- The recovered product is transferred to downstream drying, milling, screening, packaging, or further purification equipment.

Efficient Recovery of Filterable Product Solids
The centrifuge is designed to recover valuable solid products after fermentation broth clarification, precipitation, concentration, or crystallization. It separates the product cake from the process liquid and supports efficient batch recovery.
Reduced Residual Process Liquid
Centrifugal filtration removes residual mother liquor, wash liquid, or process liquor from the recovered product cake. This helps reduce liquid carryover before downstream drying, refining, or packaging.
Controlled Washing for Impurity Removal
An optional washing system can be used to reduce residual salts, pigments, soluble impurities, and remaining fermentation-derived liquor in the product cake. Wash conditions can be adjusted according to product solubility and purity requirements.
Complete Batch Cake Collection
The removable filter bag retains the recovered solids during filtration and is lifted after the cycle is completed. This supports complete cake removal and reduces product retention inside the basket.
Reduced Product Loss During Discharge
Unlike direct manual scraping, bag lifting allows the product cake to be removed together with the filter bag. This helps reduce material loss, simplifies collection, and improves batch yield.
For food-grade, feed-grade, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and fine chemical applications, the product-contact configuration can be selected according to the required hygiene and cleanability standard.
| Component | Typical Configuration |
|---|---|
| Product-contact parts | SS304 or SS316L stainless steel |
| Basket and casing | Polished stainless steel construction |
| Filter bag | Food-grade, pharmaceutical-grade, or chemical-resistant filter media |
| Seals and gaskets | EPDM, silicone, PTFE, FKM, or customized sanitary materials |
| Surface finish | Selected according to product and cleaning requirements |
| Cleaning system | Manual cleaning, spray-ball cleaning, or CIP configuration |
| Product discharge | Open, semi-closed, or closed bag-lifting arrangement |
| Optional configuration | Nitrogen protection, load cells, explosion-proof motor, or customized PLC control |

Can the Bag Lifting Centrifuge process raw fermentation broth directly?
It is generally not recommended for raw broth with high biomass concentration, fine cells, or gel-like solids. The equipment is more suitable after clarification, concentration, precipitation, or crystallization has created a filterable product slurry.
What fermentation products are suitable for this centrifuge?
It is suitable for fermentation-derived crystals or precipitated solids that can form a stable cake, such as amino acids, organic acids, nutritional ingredients, and some pharmaceutical intermediates.
Can the centrifuge wash the recovered product?
Yes. An optional cake washing system can reduce residual mother liquor, salts, pigments, and soluble impurities. The wash conditions should be selected based on product solubility and purity requirements.
Can mother liquor be collected and reused?
Yes. The filtrate can be collected for recovery, recycle, further treatment, or disposal according to the process design.
Can the machine be configured for food-grade or pharmaceutical applications?
Yes. The centrifuge can be supplied with polished SS316L contact parts, sanitary seals, suitable filter bags, closed handling options, and CIP cleaning configurations.
