centrisys decanter centrifuge
,solid liquid centrifuge

The Decanter Centrifuge for Silicon Carbide Slurry Separation is designed for continuous solid-liquid separation, silicon carbide recovery, slurry thickening, and process-water clarification in silicon carbide powder production, wafer cutting slurry treatment, grinding wastewater recovery, and abrasive material processing.
Silicon carbide slurry is usually dense, highly abrasive, and may contain fine particles, cooling water, cutting fluid, additives, or mixed mineral solids. The decanter centrifuge separates and concentrates SiC solids continuously while producing clarified liquid for recycle, further treatment, or discharge polishing.
Because silicon carbide has strong abrasive properties, the machine can be configured with enhanced wear protection for the feed zone, scroll conveyor, solids discharge area, and bowl cone.

How the Decanter Centrifuge Works
1. Silicon Carbide Slurry Feeding
Silicon carbide slurry enters the rotating bowl through a controlled feed pipe.
An agitated slurry tank is normally recommended upstream to prevent settling and maintain stable feed concentration.
2. Centrifugal Sedimentation
Inside the high-speed bowl, centrifugal force separates silicon carbide solids from the liquid phase.
The dense SiC particles settle against the bowl wall, while clarified liquid remains closer to the center.
3. Continuous Solids Conveying
The internal screw conveyor rotates at a controlled differential speed relative to the bowl.
This movement transports settled silicon carbide solids toward the conical end for continuous discharge.
4. Clarified Liquid Discharge
The separated liquid flows through the liquid outlet.
It can be returned to the grinding circuit, wash-water tank, process-water recycle system, wastewater treatment unit, or further clarification stage.
5. Thickened Silicon Carbide Solids Discharge
The concentrated SiC solids are discharged continuously from the solids outlet.
Recovered solids can be transferred to a filter press, vacuum filter, dryer, screening system, storage tank, or further classification process.

Abrasion Level
Silicon carbide can rapidly wear the feed zone, scroll flights, cone section, solids outlet, and slurry pipe elbows. Wear protection should be selected according to SiC particle size, hardness, solids concentration, and operating hours.
Particle Size
Coarse SiC particles usually settle well. Fine or ultra-fine silicon carbide may require longer residence time, higher centrifugal force, polymer conditioning, or downstream polishing filtration.
Feed Stability
An agitated buffer tank and controlled feed pump are recommended to avoid sudden solids concentration changes and improve separation consistency.
Required Final Moisture
A decanter centrifuge is mainly used for continuous thickening and dewatering. When low final moisture is required, it is normally combined with a filter press, vacuum filter, centrifuge dryer, or thermal dryer.
Clarified Liquid Quality
When the recovered liquid will be reused in high-precision grinding or wafer processing, additional polishing filtration, settling, membrane filtration, or chemical treatment may be needed.
Continuous Silicon Carbide Recovery
The centrifuge continuously separates silicon carbide solids from water or process liquid. It helps reduce SiC loss from grinding slurry, washing streams, classification overflow, and wastewater.
Wear-Resistant Design for Abrasive Duty
Silicon carbide is highly abrasive. The machine can be equipped with tungsten carbide tiles, hardfacing, ceramic protection, or replaceable wear liners in high-wear areas.
Stable Separation for Variable Slurry Conditions
Feed solids concentration, particle size, viscosity, and flow rate can change during grinding, washing, classification, and slurry preparation. Bowl speed, differential speed, pond depth, and feed rate can be adjusted to maintain stable operation.
Process-Water Recovery
Clarified liquid can be returned to washing, grinding, slurry preparation, cooling-water systems, or further treatment equipment.
Lower Filtration and Drying Load
By thickening the silicon carbide slurry before downstream filtration or drying, the decanter can reduce liquid volume and improve overall process efficiency.

Can a decanter centrifuge recover silicon carbide powder from process water?
Yes. It can continuously recover silicon carbide solids from grinding water, wash water, classification slurry, and abrasive wastewater. Recovery performance depends on particle size, slurry concentration, settling behavior, and clarified-liquid target.
Is wear protection necessary for silicon carbide slurry?
In most cases, yes. Silicon carbide is highly abrasive, especially at high solids concentration. Wear-resistant protection for the scroll, feed zone, bowl cone, and solids discharge zone is strongly recommended.
Can the clarified liquid be reused?
The clarified liquid can often be recycled to grinding, washing, or slurry preparation. When stricter water quality is required, additional polishing filtration or treatment may be added downstream.
Can the centrifuge replace a filter press?
The decanter centrifuge is suitable for continuous slurry thickening and primary dewatering. When lower final moisture is required, it is commonly used before a filter press, vacuum filter, or dryer.
Can this machine handle fine silicon carbide particles?
Yes, but very fine SiC requires evaluation of particle size, solids concentration, slurry viscosity, polymer use, and required recovery rate before final equipment selection.
