Flat-Plate Top Discharge Basket Centrifuge for Enclosed Batch Filtration

The Peony PPTD Flat-Plate Top Discharge Basket Centrifuge is a batch solid-liquid separation machine designed for the filtration, washing, dewatering, and manual top discharge of filterable crystals, granules, powders, and fibrous materials.

The PPTD series uses a flat-plate base with damping vibration isolators instead of a traditional suspended three-leg structure. This design supports easier installation, stable operation, cleaner surrounding conditions, and convenient access for operation and maintenance.

It is suitable for chemical, pharmaceutical, food ingredient, mineral, agrochemical, and specialty material applications where enclosed batch filtration, controlled washing, and manual discharge are acceptable.

Peony provides the batch separation section between crystallization, reaction, slurry preparation, and downstream drying or packaging.

1. Sealed Material Feeding

The slurry enters the rotating basket through the feed pipe on the closed casing.

Controlled feeding helps maintain even distribution of material and stable cake formation.

2. Centrifugal Filtration

As the basket rotates, centrifugal force drives the liquid phase through the filter medium and basket perforations.

The filtrate is discharged through the liquid outlet for recycle, recovery, or further treatment.

3. Filter Cake Formation

Solid particles remain inside the basket and form a filter cake on the inner wall.

The filtration rate depends on particle size, slurry concentration, viscosity, filter cloth selection, and cake permeability.

4. Optional Cake Washing and Spin Drying

A compatible wash liquid can be introduced through the washing pipe to reduce residual mother liquor, soluble impurities, or solvent carryover.

The basket then continues rotating to reduce free liquid retained in the cake.

5. Manual Top Discharge

After the programmed cycle is complete, the centrifuge stops and the cover is opened.

The dewatered material is removed manually from the top of the basket for transfer to drying, screening, storage, or packaging.

Can the PPTD centrifuge wash the filter cake inside the basket?

Yes. A washing pipe can be added to introduce compatible wash liquid after initial filtration. This can reduce residual mother liquor, soluble impurities, or solvent carryover.

Is the PPTD centrifuge suitable for flammable or solvent-based materials?

Yes. It can be configured with explosion-proof motors, sealed covers, static-proof belts, vapor handling connections, and optional nitrogen protection according to the process safety requirement.

Does the flat-plate design require a concrete foundation?

The flat-plate structure and damping vibration isolators can reduce installation requirements compared with traditional suspended three-leg centrifuges. Final floor loading, anchoring, and installation requirements should still be confirmed according to the equipment model and site conditions.

Can the PPTD centrifuge be used for food or pharmaceutical products?

Yes. Polished product-contact surfaces, stainless-steel fasteners, cleanable internal construction, silicone seals, and optional CIP connections can be configured for food, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical-related applications.

When should I choose a scraper discharge centrifuge instead?

Choose a scraper discharge centrifuge when automatic cake removal, higher batch throughput, lower manual handling, or more frequent production cycles are required. The PPTD type is more suitable when simple batch filtration and manual top discharge are acceptable.
