Top Discharge Basket Centrifuge for Crystal and Granule Filtration

The PTDM Three-Column Top Discharge Basket Centrifuge is a batch filtration centrifuge for the separation, washing, and dewatering of filterable crystals, granules, fibers, and mineral fines.

The PTDM series uses a stable three-column support structure and is suitable for chemical, pharmaceutical, food ingredient, light industry, agrochemical, and mineral processing applications where batch operation and manual top discharge are acceptable.

Peony provides the batch solid-liquid separation section between crystallization, reaction, slurry preparation, and downstream drying or packaging.

1. Top Feeding

The slurry is fed into the rotating basket through the upper feed connection.

The feed rate is controlled to support even product distribution and stable filter cake formation.

2. Centrifugal Filtration

As the basket rotates, centrifugal force pushes the liquid phase through the filter medium.

The filtrate is discharged from the machine and can be collected for recycle, recovery, or further treatment.

3. Filter Cake Formation

The solid phase remains inside the basket and gradually forms a filter cake on the basket wall.

Cake quality depends on particle size, slurry concentration, fines content, liquid viscosity, and filter medium selection.

4. Optional Cake Washing and Spin Drying

A compatible wash liquid can be introduced through the wash pipe to reduce residual mother liquor, soluble impurities, or solvent carryover.

The basket then continues rotating to reduce free liquid in the cake.

5. Manual Top Discharge

After the batch cycle is complete, the centrifuge stops.

The hinged cover is opened and the dewatered material is removed manually from the top of the basket.

What materials can the centrifuge process?

It is suitable for filterable crystals, granules, fibers, salts, sulfate products, food additives, chemical intermediates, agrochemical crystals, mineral fines, and selected textile materials.

Can the cake be washed inside the centrifuge?

Yes. A wash pipe can be installed to introduce compatible wash liquid after initial filtration. This helps reduce residual mother liquor, soluble impurities, or process liquid retained in the cake.

Is the centrifuge suitable for pharmaceutical or food applications?

It can be configured with polished product-contact surfaces, cleanable internal construction, suitable seals, and optional sight glass or lighting. Final hygienic requirements should be confirmed during design.

Can the centrifuge be supplied with explosion-proof configuration?

Yes. Explosion-proof motors, electrical components, lamps, and related accessories can be selected for solvent-containing or hazardous-area applications.

When should I choose a Top Discharge centrifuge instead?

Choose a top discharge Centrifuge when automatic unloading, higher batch throughput, reduced labor input, or more frequent production cycles are required. The PPTD type is more suitable when manual top discharge and simpler batch operation are acceptable.
