How the Decanter Centrifuge Works
1. LFP Slurry Feeding
Lithium iron phosphate slurry enters the rotating bowl through a controlled feed pipe.
An agitated tank helps prevent particle settling and maintains a stable feed concentration.
2. Centrifugal Sedimentation
High-speed rotation separates LFP particles from the liquid phase.
The denser solids move outward and form a layer against the bowl wall, while clarified liquid remains closer to the center.
3. Continuous Solids Conveying
The internal screw conveyor rotates at a controlled differential speed.
It continuously transports settled solids toward the conical end for further dewatering.
4. Clarified Liquid Discharge
The separated liquid leaves through the liquid outlet.
It can be returned to washing or slurry preparation, sent to polishing filtration, or transferred to further treatment.
5. Thickened LFP Solids Discharge
Concentrated LFP solids are discharged continuously.
The recovered solids can be sent to a filter press, dryer, reprocessing system, or storage tank.

Particle Size
Fine LFP particles may remain suspended for a long time. Particle-size distribution and settling tests should be checked before selection.
Slurry Concentration and Viscosity
High solids loading or viscosity may reduce throughput. Stable feeding is important for consistent separation.
Process-Liquid Composition
The liquid may contain water, lithium salts, iron salts, phosphates, acids, alkalis, dispersants, or binders. The complete composition should be provided.
Product Purity
LFP production may have strict contamination limits. Wetted materials and wear-resistant components should be selected to reduce metal contamination.
Flocculant Compatibility
Flocculant may improve fine-particle capture, but it should not affect product reuse or downstream processing.
High LFP Recovery
High centrifugal force continuously recovers valuable lithium iron phosphate particles and reduces material loss.
Stable Slurry Thickening
Adjustable bowl speed, differential speed, pond depth, and feed rate provide stable operation.
Process-Water Recycling
Clarified liquid can be returned to washing or slurry preparation when it meets the required quality.
Purity and Wear Control
Suitable wetted materials and wear-resistant components support reliable battery-material processing.
Please provide:
- Particle size and solids concentration
- Slurry density, viscosity, pH, and temperature
- Liquid composition and purity requirement
- Required capacity and recovery target
- Downstream filter press or dryer
- Material and wear-protection requirements
Can a decanter centrifuge recover fine LFP particles?
Yes. Separation depends on particle size, density, slurry stability, and liquid viscosity. Very fine particles may require conditioning or polishing filtration.
Can it process iron phosphate precursor slurry?
Yes. The centrifuge can be used for iron phosphate slurry thickening and washing-liquid clarification.
Can clarified liquid be recycled?
Yes. It can often be reused in washing or slurry preparation after confirming the liquid quality.
Is flocculant dosing required?
Not always. It depends on particle size, slurry concentration, settling behavior, and clarified-liquid requirements.
Can it replace a filter press?
The decanter is mainly used for continuous recovery and pre-thickening. A filter press or dryer may still be required for lower final moisture.
