The Decanter Centrifuge for Plastic Washing Slurry Dewatering is designed for continuous separation of plastic fines, labels, fibers, dirt, sand, and sludge from plastic washing water.
It is suitable for PET, HDPE, PP, LDPE film, rigid plastic, mixed plastic, and recycling-wash-water treatment lines. The system thickens suspended solids, recovers reusable process water, and reduces the liquid load sent to downstream sludge handling or wastewater treatment.
The decanter is mainly used for plastic washing slurry, fines recovery, and wash-water clarification. For large plastic flakes or film, a squeeze dryer, centrifugal dryer, or mechanical dewatering machine is normally selected downstream or separately.
- PET bottle washing wastewater treatment

How the Decanter Centrifuge Works
1. Plastic Washing Slurry Feeding
Wash water containing plastic fines, labels, fibers, dirt, and sludge enters the rotating bowl through a controlled feed pipe.
An agitated buffer tank is usually installed upstream to prevent settling and maintain stable feed conditions.
2. Centrifugal Sedimentation
Inside the high-speed bowl, centrifugal force separates suspended solids from the liquid phase.
Heavier particles, sand, sludge, and plastic fines move outward and form a solids layer along the bowl wall.
3. Continuous Solids Conveying
The internal screw conveyor rotates at a controlled differential speed relative to the bowl.
It continuously transports settled solids toward the conical end for discharge.
4. Clarified Liquid Discharge
The clarified liquid flows through the liquid outlet.
It can be returned to the washing line, stored as recycle water, sent to polishing filtration, or routed to wastewater treatment.
5. Thickened Solids Discharge
Thickened sludge, plastic fines, fibers, labels, and mineral contaminants are discharged continuously.
The discharged solids can be transferred to a filter press, container, dryer, disposal system, or further recovery stage.

Plastic Type and Particle Size
The decanter is suitable for fines, suspended plastic particles, sludge, labels, fibers, and mixed contaminants. Large flakes and film pieces should usually be screened or mechanically dewatered before entering the decanter.
Sand and Abrasive Contaminants
Plastic washing slurry may contain sand, glass fines, or mineral particles. Wear protection is recommended when abrasive solids are present.
Polymer Compatibility
Polymer can improve recovery of fine suspended solids, but dosage should be tested to avoid excessive chemical use or negative effects on water recycle.
Clarified-Water Requirement
For direct reuse in sensitive washing stages, additional polishing filtration or treatment may be required after decanter separation.
Final Solids Moisture
The decanter provides continuous thickening and primary dewatering. A filter press or dryer may be added where lower final moisture is required.
Continuous Calcium Carbonate Recovery
The decanter centrifuge continuously recovers calcium carbonate solids from process slurry, reducing manual handling and batch operation.
Suitable for GCC and PCC Slurry
The centrifuge can be configured for different calcium carbonate grades, including ground calcium carbonate, precipitated calcium carbonate, coating-grade material, and industrial filler products.
Adjustable Separation Performance
Bowl speed, differential speed, pond depth, and feed rate can be adjusted to balance throughput, solids recovery, liquid clarity, and discharged solids concentration.
Process-Water Recycle Support
Recovered liquid can be routed back to grinding, washing, slurry preparation, or other process-water reuse points when water quality allows.
Wear-Resistant Configuration Available
For slurry containing silica, quartz sand, or abrasive mineral impurities, wear protection can be applied to the feed zone, scroll flights, bowl cone, and solids discharge section.

Can a decanter centrifuge dewater plastic flakes directly?
It is mainly designed for plastic washing slurry, fines, sludge, and process-water clarification. Larger plastic flakes and film are usually handled by squeeze dryers, centrifugal dryers, screens, or other mechanical dewatering equipment.
Can clarified wash water be reused?
Yes. Clarified liquid can often be recycled to pre-washing or other process-water stages. Higher-quality reuse may require additional filtration or treatment.
Is polymer dosing necessary?
Not always. It depends on fine-particle content, sludge characteristics, wash-water chemistry, and clarified-water requirements.
Can the decanter handle hot-wash wastewater?
Yes, provided that slurry temperature, chemical composition, material compatibility, and sealing requirements are evaluated during equipment selection.
Can it remove sand and dirt from plastic washing water?
Yes. The decanter can continuously separate dense mineral contaminants, sludge, and suspended solids. Abrasion-resistant protection is recommended for high sand content.
