Description

The Scraper Bottom Discharge Centrifuge is designed for batch dewatering of coarse, filterable crystals that require efficient mother liquor removal, optional cake washing, low residual moisture, and automatic discharge.

It is particularly suitable for crystal slurry with relatively large particle size, good cake permeability, and sufficient mechanical strength for scraper discharge. Compared with fine-crystal slurry, coarse crystals usually drain more easily through the cake bed. The key requirement is to control feeding, washing, spinning, and scraping carefully to avoid unnecessary crystal breakage or excessive product loss.

Typical Applications
  • Coarse inorganic salt crystal dewatering
  • Fertilizer salt crystal separation
  • Potassium salt crystal dewatering
  • Ammonium sulfate crystal handling
  • Sodium sulfate crystal dewatering
  • Coarse sodium chloride crystal recovery
  • Mineral salt crystal separation
  • Crystallized chemical product mother liquor removal
  • Crystal cake washing before drying
  • Automatic discharge before cooling, screening, or packaging

Coarse Crystal Dewatering Solution

Peony provides the solid-liquid separation section for coarse crystal products after crystallization.

Crystallizer / Slurry Tank → Controlled Feed → Scraper Bottom Discharge Centrifuge → Mother Liquor Collection / Recycle → Optional Cake Washing → Spin Drying → Automatic Bottom Discharge → Dryer / Cooler / Screen / Storage

For coarse crystals, the solution focuses on maintaining crystal integrity while achieving stable cake formation and efficient liquid removal.

Peony can provide:

  • Controlled slurry feeding to avoid uneven basket loading
  • Filter basket and screen selection based on crystal size
  • Cake washing arrangement for lower mother liquor carryover
  • Spin-drying cycle adjustment for target moisture
  • Scraper setting adapted to crystal strength and cake thickness
  • Mother liquor collection, recycle, or purge connection
  • Automatic discharge connection to downstream dryers, coolers, or screens

How the Scraper Bottom Discharge Centrifuge Works

1. Crystal Slurry Feeding

Coarse crystal slurry enters the rotating basket through a controlled feed system.

2. Mother Liquor Filtration

Mother liquor passes through the filter medium and is collected through the filtrate outlet.

3. Crystal Retention

Coarse crystals remain inside the basket while the liquid phase is discharged.

4. Cake Formation

The retained crystals gradually form a stable and permeable filter cake on the inner basket surface.

5. Optional Cake Washing

Compatible wash liquid can be introduced to reduce residual mother liquor, soluble impurities, or process residues between crystals.

6. Spin Drying

The basket continues rotating to reduce free liquid retained in the crystal cake.

7. Automatic Scraping and Bottom Discharge

After the programmed cycle is completed, the scraper removes the dewatered cake from the basket wall and discharges it automatically through the bottom outlet.

Main Advantages in Coarse Crystal Dewatering

Efficient Mother Liquor Removal

The permeable structure of coarse crystal cake can support efficient drainage and lower retained liquid before downstream drying.

Automatic Product Discharge

The scraper removes the finished crystal cake automatically, reducing manual handling and supporting repeatable batch operation.

Better Crystal Handling Control

Feed rate, basket loading, washing intensity, spin time, and scraper movement can be adjusted to reduce unnecessary crystal breakage.

Optional Cake Washing

A controlled wash step can reduce mother liquor residue and improve crystal cleanliness before final spin drying.

Suitable for High-Solids Crystal Slurry

The centrifuge can handle concentrated, filterable crystal slurry when the material forms a stable cake and can be mechanically removed by the scraper.

FAQ

Is this centrifuge suitable for coarse salt crystals?

Yes. It is suitable for coarse salt or fertilizer crystals that can form a stable, permeable cake and tolerate scraper discharge.

Can the machine reduce crystal breakage?

The feed rate, basket loading, washing intensity, spin cycle, and scraper setting can be adjusted to reduce unnecessary crystal damage. Final performance depends on actual crystal strength and size distribution.

Can coarse crystal cake be washed inside the centrifuge?

Yes. An optional wash system can be configured to reduce residual mother liquor and soluble impurities before spin drying.

Is coarse crystal slurry easier to dewater than fine crystal slurry?

In many cases, coarse crystals form a more permeable cake and allow faster liquid drainage. However, actual performance also depends on fines content, slurry concentration, mother liquor viscosity, and cake thickness.

Can the discharged crystals connect directly to a dryer?

Yes. The bottom discharge can be connected to a dryer, cooler, screen, conveyor, storage bin, or packaging section according to the plant layout.
