The Bag Lifting Centrifuge is designed for batch recovery, washing, and dewatering of citric acid crystals after crystallization.
Citric acid crystal slurry usually contains product crystals, mother liquor, residual soluble impurities, and fine particles. The separation task is not only to remove liquid. It must also protect crystal quality, reduce mother liquor carryover, limit product dissolution during washing, and collect the finished cake with low residue.
This design is suitable for food-grade, additive-grade, and high-purity citric acid crystal production where clean batch handling and low-residual product collection are important.
- Citric acid monohydrate crystal recovery
- Citric acid anhydrous crystal recovery
- Citric acid crystallization mother liquor removal
- Citric acid cake washing before drying
- Food-grade organic acid crystal dewatering
- High-purity citric acid batch separation
- Citric acid recrystallization product recovery
- Citric acid crystal collection before fluid-bed or vacuum drying
- Batch recovery of water-soluble crystalline products
- Multi-product food and fine chemical crystal processing
Peony provides the batch solid-liquid separation section between crystallization and downstream drying or packaging.

1. Crystal Slurry Feeding
Citric acid crystal slurry enters the rotating basket lined with a suitable filter bag.
2. Mother Liquor Filtration
Mother liquor passes through the filter bag and is collected through the filtrate outlet.
3. Crystal Retention
Citric acid crystals remain inside the filter bag while the liquid phase is discharged.
4. Cake Formation
The retained crystals gradually form a filter cake inside the bag.
5. Optional Cake Washing
Compatible wash liquid can be introduced to reduce residual mother liquor, soluble impurities, or color-bearing liquor retained between crystals.
6. Spin Drying
The basket continues rotating to reduce free liquid retained in the crystal cake.
7. Machine Stop and Top Opening
After the programmed separation cycle is complete, the centrifuge stops and the top cover is opened.
8. Filter Bag Lifting and Product Collection
The filter bag containing the dewatered citric acid crystal cake is lifted out and transferred to a collection bin, dryer feed system, or downstream handling station.

Lower Product Residue During Discharge
The filter bag allows the product cake to be removed as a contained batch, reducing the need for manual scraping inside the basket.
Cleaner Product Handling
The bag lifting structure supports controlled batch collection and helps reduce direct contact between product and the centrifuge shell during discharge.
Flexible Cake Washing
A washing stage can be configured to reduce residual mother liquor and improve crystal cleanliness before drying.
Suitable for High-Value Batch Products
The system is suitable for products where material recovery, low residual hold-up, and batch traceability are important.
Easier Changeover and Cleaning
The removable bag arrangement supports filter media replacement, product changeover, and cleaning between different production campaigns.
| Component | Typical Options |
|---|---|
| Product-contact material | SS304 or SS316L, as required |
| Filter bag material | Food-compatible synthetic fiber or customized material, based on product and cleaning requirement |
| Filter bag micron rating | Selected according to crystal size and filtrate clarity target |
| Seals and gaskets | Silicone, EPDM, PTFE, FKM, or compatible materials |

Is a Bag Lifting Centrifuge suitable for citric acid crystal recovery?
Yes, when the citric acid crystals can form a stable and filterable cake. It is particularly suitable for batch operation where clean collection and low-residual product handling are important.
Can citric acid crystals be washed inside the centrifuge?
Yes. An optional washing system can be configured. However, wash conditions must be controlled carefully because citric acid is soluble and excessive washing may reduce product recovery.
Why use a filter bag instead of direct basket discharge?
The filter bag helps contain the crystal cake during removal. It can reduce product residue in the basket and supports cleaner handling for high-value or food-grade crystal products.
Can the mother liquor be recycled?
Yes. The collected mother liquor can be returned to the crystallization section, routed for recovery, or sent to further treatment depending on the overall process route.
Can the discharged crystals be sent directly to a dryer?
Yes. The lifted bag or collected cake can be transferred to a fluid-bed dryer, vacuum dryer, tray dryer, screen, or packaging section according to the plant layout.
