Product Description
Decanter Centrifuge for Beer Sludge Separation
Decanter Centrifuge for Beer Sludge Separation
Description

The Decanter Centrifuge for Beer Sludge Separation is designed for continuous solid-liquid separation in breweries and beverage processing plants.

It is suitable for beer yeast sludge, fermentation residue, brewery wastewater sludge, and organic solids recovery applications.

The centrifuge separates yeast particles and suspended solids from liquid through centrifugal force, producing concentrated yeast cake and clarified liquid. It helps breweries improve yeast recovery, reduce wastewater load, and optimize the efficiency of downstream treatment processes.

Typical Applications
  • Beer yeast recovery
  • Fermentation sludge separation
  • Brewery wastewater sludge dewatering
  • Spent yeast concentration
  • Brewing process residue treatment
  • Organic solid recovery
  • Wastewater treatment plant sludge separation
  • Liquid clarification before discharge or reuse

Beer Sludge Separation Challenges

Fine Yeast Particles

Beer yeast cells are very small and difficult to separate completely by gravity settling, affecting recovery efficiency.

High Moisture Sludge

Beer sludge contains a large amount of water, increasing storage, transportation, and disposal costs.

Low Density Solids

Yeast and fermentation residues have similar density to liquid, making traditional separation methods less effective.

Product Quality Requirements

Recovered yeast must maintain suitable quality for reuse or further processing.

Variable Sludge Characteristics

Different beer types, fermentation processes, and production conditions create changing sludge properties.

Hygiene Requirements

Breweries require cleanable equipment and food-grade contact materials to prevent contamination risks.

Beer Sludge Separation Solution

Beer Sludge / Fermentation Residue
→ Collection Tank
→ Optional Conditioning
→ Decanter Centrifuge
→ Concentrated Yeast Cake + Clarified Liquid

Recovered Yeast → Reuse / Further Processing

Clarified Liquid → Brewery Wastewater Treatment / Recycling

How the Decanter Centrifuge Works

1. Beer Sludge Feeding

Collected beer sludge enters the rotating bowl continuously.

2. Solid Sedimentation

High centrifugal force separates yeast particles and suspended solids from the liquid phase.

3. Liquid Clarification

Separated liquid moves toward the center and exits through the liquid discharge outlet.

4. Solid Conveying

The internal scroll transports concentrated yeast solids toward the discharge end.

5. Continuous Discharge

Separated yeast cake is discharged continuously for collection or further processing.
