The Three Phase Decanter Centrifuge for Marine Bilge Oil Separation continuously separates recoverable oil, water, and concentrated solids from high-solids bilge waste.
It is suitable for bilge holding-tank sludge, engine-room oily wastewater, waste-oil residues, and marine oily-waste pretreatment.

Stable Oil-Water Emulsions
Surfactants and fine particles can keep oil dispersed in water.
Heating, emulsion breakers, coagulation, or pH adjustment may be required before separation.
Variable Oil Content
Oil, water, and solids ratios may change with production and cleaning operations.
An equalization tank and adjustable phase interface help stabilize operation.
Fine Suspended Solids
Metal fines, rust, pigments, and polishing residues may remain suspended.
Suitable conditioning improves solids capture and liquid separation.
Sticky and Abrasive Sludge
Oil-coated metal particles may cause buildup and wear.
Flushing connections and carbide or ceramic protection can be provided.
Dissolved Pollutants
The centrifuge removes free oil and suspended solids but does not fully remove dissolved COD, salts, surfactants, or dissolved metals.
Further treatment may still be required.

How the Decanter Centrifuge Works
1. Conditioned Bilge Feeding
Screened and heated bilge waste enters the rotating bowl.
Agitation maintains a stable feed composition.
2. Solids Sedimentation
Rust, sand, sludge, and dense impurities move toward the bowl wall.
A concentrated solids layer forms.
3. Oil-Water Separation
The lighter oil phase remains closer to the bowl center.
The heavier water phase forms an outer liquid layer.
4. Continuous Solids Conveying
The screw conveyor transports settled solids toward the conical end.
Concentrated solids discharge continuously.
5. Three-Phase Discharge
Recovered oil and separated water leave through independent outlets.
Solids discharge continuously for further treatment.

Can the separated water be discharged directly overboard?
Normally no. It should pass through approved polishing and monitoring equipment and meet applicable MARPOL and flag-state requirements.
Can it handle detergent-stabilized bilge emulsions?
Conditioning, heating, demulsifier dosing, or additional polishing may be required for stable emulsions.
Is it suitable for onboard installation?
Yes. The system can be supplied as a compact skid according to the available space, power supply, and marine requirements.
Can the recovered oil be reused as fuel?
Possibly. Water, sediment, viscosity, contaminants, and fuel specifications must be tested before reuse.
How are rust and abrasive solids handled?
Wear-protected feed zones, scroll flights, cone sections, and solids outlets can be provided.
