Description

The Three Phase Decanter Centrifuge for Industrial Emulsion Wastewater is designed for continuous separation of recovered oil, aqueous liquid, and concentrated solids.

It is suitable for wastewater containing lubricating oil, cutting oil, hydraulic oil, metal fines, rust, pigments, surfactants, and suspended sludge.

Typical Applications
  • Machining emulsion wastewater
  • Rolling-mill oily wastewater
  • Metal-cleaning wastewater
  • Cutting-fluid waste treatment
  • Hydraulic-oil contaminated wastewater
  • Parts-washing emulsion treatment
  • Compressor condensate treatment
  • Oily sludge volume reduction
  • Oil recovery before DAF
  • Industrial wastewater pretreatment

Emulsion Wastewater Challenges

Stable Oil-Water Emulsions

Surfactants and fine particles can keep oil dispersed in water.

Heating, emulsion breakers, coagulation, or pH adjustment may be required before separation.

Variable Oil Content

Oil, water, and solids ratios may change with production and cleaning operations.

An equalization tank and adjustable phase interface help stabilize operation.

Fine Suspended Solids

Metal fines, rust, pigments, and polishing residues may remain suspended.

Suitable conditioning improves solids capture and liquid separation.

Sticky and Abrasive Sludge

Oil-coated metal particles may cause buildup and wear.

Flushing connections and carbide or ceramic protection can be provided.

Dissolved Pollutants

The centrifuge removes free oil and suspended solids but does not fully remove dissolved COD, salts, surfactants, or dissolved metals.

Further treatment may still be required.

Industrial Emulsion Wastewater Treatment Solution

Peony provides three-phase separation solutions for oil recovery, water clarification, and sludge thickening.

Industrial Emulsion Wastewater
→ Screening
→ Equalization / Optional Emulsion Breaking
→ Three Phase Decanter Centrifuge
→ Oil + Water + Solids

Recovered Oil → Recycling / Disposal
Separated Water → Further Treatment
Concentrated Solids → Filter Press / Recovery / Disposal

Peony Can Provide

  • Wastewater testing and centrifuge selection
  • Feed tank and controlled pump
  • Optional heating and chemical dosing
  • Adjustable bowl, differential speed, and phase interface
  • Wear protection and automatic flushing
  • PLC and VFD control
  • Three-phase collection system

How the Decanter Centrifuge Works

1. Conditioned Wastewater Feeding

Conditioned emulsion wastewater enters the rotating bowl through a controlled feed pipe.

The equalization tank maintains stable flow and composition.

2. Solids Sedimentation

Centrifugal force moves metal fines, rust, pigments, and dense sludge toward the bowl wall.

The solids form a concentrated outer layer.

3. Oil-Water Separation

The lighter oil phase remains closer to the bowl center.

The heavier water phase forms a separate outer liquid layer.

4. Continuous Solids Conveying

The screw conveyor transports settled solids toward the conical discharge end.

Concentrated sludge is discharged continuously.

5. Three-Phase Discharge

Recovered oil and separated water leave through independent outlets.

The solids discharge continuously for further dewatering, recovery, or disposal.

Main Advantages

Simultaneous Three-Phase Separation

Separates recoverable oil, aqueous liquid, and solids in one continuous process.

Lower Wastewater Load

Removes free oil and suspended solids before downstream treatment.

Reduced Sludge Volume

Concentrated solids require less storage and disposal capacity.

Flexible Feed Handling

Operating parameters can be adjusted for changing oil-water-solids ratios.

Automatic Continuous Operation

PLC and VFD control support stable separation with limited manual intervention.

What Data Is Needed for Selection?

Please provide:

  • Wastewater source and emulsion type
  • Oil, water, and solids percentages
  • Flow rate, viscosity, temperature, and pH
  • Particle size and surfactant content
  • Required oil recovery and water quality
  • Downstream treatment process

FAQ

Can the centrifuge break a stable industrial emulsion?

Not by centrifugal force alone in every case. Stable emulsions may require heating, pH adjustment, or emulsion-breaking chemicals first.

Can the recovered oil be reused?

Possibly. Water, solids, additives, and contamination levels must be checked before reuse or reprocessing.

Can the separated water be discharged directly?

Usually not. Dissolved COD, surfactants, salts, and metals may require further physical, chemical, biological, or membrane treatment.

How are oil-coated metal fines handled?

They are moved toward the bowl wall and continuously discharged. Wear protection and regular flushing help maintain stable operation.

Will the treatment damage reusable process emulsions?

It may alter the emulsion balance if chemical breaking is used. Reuse applications should be tested before selecting the treatment method.
